A Day In The Life Of: Nicolet, Social Media Manager at Armada Music

A Day In The Life Of: Nicolet, Social Media Manager at Armada Music

April 21, 2015, ,

Last week 18.000 people attended the A State Of Trance Festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina. But besides that, tens of thousands of people were also attending the Festival online, watching the live video stream on YouTube and Tweeting using the hash tag #ASOTFESTAR while checking out pictures on Instagram and interacting on Facebook and Google+. Have you always wondered how we manage our social media during a festival? Check out what a day in the life of a Social Media Manager looks like!

00.00 – 01.00

After a relaxing Saturday and a powernap it is midnight in Amsterdam and my time to shine! In Amsterdam it’s the beginning of the night, in Buenos Aires the beginning of a great Festival: ASOT Festival Buenos Aires. With approval of my 3 roommates I rebuild our living room into a social media department. This meant moving all the couches and chairs in the room aside and placing our dining table in front of the TV with one laptop connected to it and one other laptop for all social media channels. Via Skype I speak to my colleague and partner in crime Suzanne who sets up the live stream and we are off!

01.00 – 04.00

A lot of people have already been Tweeting all day, but Armin van Buuren’s warm-up set is the starting point for more social interaction! To monitor Twitter we use Tweetdeck or Hootsuite (I use both) to see all messages with hash tag #ASOTFESTAR. Madness! Every second tweets are flying in and out and we (re)tweet wherever we can!  Really cool to see people from all over the world engaging! Also, fans know EVERY track that is played! After sets from Ruben de Ronde, Heatbeat and Ben Gold we receive the first pictures from our photographer in Buenos Aires meaning we can share our first photo album on Facebook!

04.00 – 09.00

In the meantime my colleague Evelien is awake to assist and my roommate comes home after having drinks and enters ‘my office’. For her it’s time to sleep, for me 7 hours of Trance are awaiting with Cosmic Gate, Andrew Rayel and more! And no time to get tired, because it’s not only the ASOT social media we’re covering. We’re also posting on the Facebook pages of Armada Music, Armind Recordings and Who’s Afraid of 138?! and using Instagram and Google+ as well. It’s really cool to watch the live video stream and follow everything that happens on social media. Even though I’m sitting in my living room in Amsterdam, it feels like being in Buenos Aires. Isn’t it great what technology can accomplish nowadays? Outside it’s getting lighter, birds are singing along with the tunes of Armin van Buuren. Time for coffee and breakfast!

09.00 – 12.30

Did I mention ASOTFESTAR is a worldwide trending topic now on twitter?

My roommate wakes up and starts her day with tunes from Aly & Fila and Bryan Kearney! It’s a sunny day in Amsterdam. I’m waiting for the last pictures to post on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I can’t believe it’s almost over. ASOT Festival Buenos Aires is closing off with A B11B set!! People are going crazy on Twitter and they are talking about a world record! After 10 hours of trance it’s time for our last ‘Thank You’ messages and I shut down my computer. Then I turn on my computer again because I’m too curious to see if people are still Tweeting. It’s hard for a Social Media Manager to go offline I guess ;)! It was a great night and hopefully we can accomplish this again in Mumbai! Please don’t hesitate to tweet with us using #ASOTFestAsia!
