Artist Spotlight: Amber Revival
What inspired this collaboration with UUFO, and how did the idea for ‘The Open Road’
come about?
We first met UUFO (Yurii) at the ASOT Special during ADE 2024. After exchanging mutual admiration, and sharing a few good laughs, we casually talked about doing something together one day. As artists know, that’s often where things end. But to our surprise, Yurii followed up just a week later and shared an early idea. We were so inspired that we sent back our version within hours. Working with him was incredibly smooth and inspiring. Yurii is not only talented but also humble—qualities we truly value. The idea behind ‘The Open Road’ came from our shared experience of leaving the places we grew up in to find a new path, and perhaps even a new home. The track carries a sense of melancholy: a feeling familiar to anyone who’s ever started over. Whether it’s moving to a new country, ending a relationship, or changing careers, that emotional mix of hope, uncertainty, and quiet solitude is something many can relate to. The song is about closing one chapter and stepping into the unknown, carrying everything you’ve gained along the way.
Were there any particular influences or inspirations that guided the sonic direction of
the track?
Definitely. We wanted to blend the emotional trance sound we’re known for with something more
driving and modern like the energy you find in melodic techno. We share Armin’s view that genres don’t always make sense these days—melodic techno often feels like rebranded trance anyway. Artists like Miss Monique, MORTEN, and Skytech inspire us, and this track was our chance to fuse that energy with a strong vocal structure. We aimed for a verse–chorus format that builds into a big synth-driven drop, giving listeners both an emotional and high-impact experience—whether they’re streaming it or hearing it live in a set.
Beyond this release, what can fans anticipate from you in terms of upcoming music,
events, or collaborations?
It’s a super exciting time for us, we’re honestly having the best time of our lives. Beyond ‘The Open Road’, we’re working with some incredible artists. There’s a follow-up to Illuminate coming soon with Ruben de Ronde, a new collab with BLR after Love Me Endless, and we’ve also been working on music with Skytech. Plus, there’s a remix from trance legend YORK in the pipeline and a special track with our friend Sherano, who was actually our first-ever collaborator as Amber Revival over 10 years ago! After playing our first solo set at the ASOT Pool Party in Rotterdam earlier this year, we’ve already been invited back for shows in the Netherlands and Poland. We’re aiming to start touring more seriously in the second half of 2025. It’s been a bit of a journey—many still know us mainly as topliners and don’t realize we produce and perform our own DJ sets. But we’re more than happy to prove ourselves and show what we bring to the stage. We also love joining our collaborators on stage and hope to appear with BLR at Luminosity this summer. Another passion project we’re launching soon is our own label. We’re still searching for the right
partner, but the goal is to create a space for our music, including an upcoming EP, that doesn’t always fit the ASOT trance or club format—more stripped-back, song-driven releases that reflect another side of us creatively in the electronic music landscape.
Is there anything you’d like to say to the ASOT audience?
Yes, thank you! We’ve said it before and we’ll keep saying it: the ASOT community is truly one
of a kind. Every message, every comment means the world to us. Your love and passion for
trance has genuinely brought us to tears more than once. You make all of this possible, and we
couldn’t be more grateful to have you on this journey with us. We can’t wait to meet more of you
at future shows and events
