Artist Spotlight: Ben Nicky

What inspired the collaboration with Paul Gannon on ‘Voicemail’ on, and how did the track come together?

I wanted to do a hard techno track with a trance-inspired breakdown for a while, so when Paul sent me a drop that I absolutely loved straight away, I knew we had to jump on it together. I created a totally new trance section to add to it and make it a hybrid between techno & trance. We both loved what we created together and knew it would fit well in both our sets.

You’re bringing your Emotional Havoc project to ASOT London this July. What makes this concept special to you, and how will it shape your set?

This will be the first time I’ve brought my Emotional Havoc concept to the capital. Trance music plays such a big part of my history, and being able to play classic tracks that fill both myself and the crowd with emotion, intertwined with current tracks, definitely makes these sets special. It’s great to be able to showcase different sides of my love for dance music, so I always put a lot of time into making each Emotional Havoc set a real journey for everyone there.”

Looking forward, what can fans anticipate from you this year?

2025 has already been a crazy year for me so far, playing the Main Stage at EDC LV for the first time has definitely been a highlight. I’ve recently started to delve more into the vlogging space, allowing fans to see what goes on behind the scenes – not just at events, but also in my daily life. I’ll be releasing regular content on my YouTube channel, so keep your eyes peeled for that. The world premiere of my new concept ‘Field of Dreams’ will be at my sold-out Belfast show in August, plus I’ll be hosting my own Misfit Arena at Creamfields in August again.
