Artist Spotlight: Bryan Kearney
How did ‘God Help Me’ come to be, and how does it reflect your current musical direction?
‘God Help Me’ was a track that I started working on almost five years ago. Plumb is an artist that I have worked with on a number of occasions, and I wanted to create my own version of her original track. It was made during lockdown and it reflects one of the most difficult times of my life; making this track helped me to heal and to process a very challenging experience, with regards to my physical and mental health. It’s hard to say if it reflects my current musical direction as the song is almost four years old, but it definitely reflects my life at that time and the faith and strength I needed to get through it.
Given that fans have been hearing this track in your sets for years, what kind of feedback have you received, and how has that influenced your decision to release it now?
It’s been one of the most requested songs that I’ve ever made, and I’ve lost count of the amount of times that I have been asked when it’s going to be released. There were a number of legal issues that we had to sort out, but thankfully they have, and I’m happy and relieved to finally get this one out there on Armada.
What can we expect next from you in terms of new music, collabs, and upcoming events?
Lots of new music: in a number of different styles, but always with the melody as the most fundamental part. Summer season is approaching and it is going to be a really busy one for me, with shows all across the world.
