Artist Spotlight: Evoxel
How did you end up working on this track with Zanberg? Was this a friendship first, or did the music come before you really knew each other?
We actually connected through music initially, which naturally grew into a close friendship before “Hold Back” even came to life. We had tossed around a few ideas in the past, but this was the first project where everything just clicked, and we knew we had to finish and release it.
What’s the story behind “Hold Back”, and how would you describe it to someone who hasn’t heard it yet?
“Hold Back” started when ZANBERG sent me the initial demo; I immediately saw the vision for it and wanted to take it in a more club-focused direction. He sent over the stems, and I dived into the production. We ended up re-recording the vocal, which, funnily enough, is actually my own voice heavily processed with a vocoder and a bunch of effects. Then we brought all the pieces into place and finished the track.
Describing the track is very tricky because it doesn’t fit into just one genre. It mixes elements of future rave and melodic techno with a fresh sound design that you don’t hear often in today’s music. Ultimately, it’s a high-energy dancefloor track.
What’s next for you after this release?
The immediate focus is keeping the momentum going with a bunch of new music. I’m currently in the middle of moving into a brand-new studio space. I can’t wait to get all my hardware set up so I can lock in, produce a massive amount of new material, and share it with the world.
