Artist Spotlight: I. Jordan
Looking back, what was the moment you first felt that music could become something deeply personal for you, not just something you enjoyed?
I’ve always thought of music as something deeply personal, and this might sound cliché, but in retrospect, I used to use it as a way to process and feel things, and music has always made me feel things. I’ve had a connection to it my whole life. Early armada releases when I was younger formed a massive part of this, too!
Can you tell us a bit more about your new release?
‘Proper Silly’ is a tongue-in-cheek, silly northern dance track. I’ve been inspired by tracks like DJ Jean – The Launch and that sort of hands-in-the-air, very loud and in-your-face dance music that doesn’t take itself very seriously. I wanted to make a track that made the crowd respond in that way, and in a proper silly way
Right now, what part of being an artist feels the most fulfilling to you?
Connecting with people on the dancefloor and connecting with people who listen to my music – when people tell me that music has shaped them and made them feel emotions, this is really important to me because I use music in that way. Also, to create euphoric moments on the dance floor is literally the reason why I’m a DJ. To create special moments like that is something that I look for in music, so it’s something that I want to share with other people, too.
