What stood out to you about Kimmic’s version of ‘ResuRection’ that made you want to give it an official release under Perfecto?
- It’s taking the instrumental to the next level with a young, fresh voice with a song that’s both compelling and beautiful. It’s great to see the next generation putting their stamp on these old classics and seeing where they can take them. I think Kimmic have been respectful to the original yet definitely added their own flavor.
As one of the pioneers of Trance, how do you view the genre’s transformation over the years and do you see these changes as a positive evolution or a departure from its roots?
- I’ve felt that trance lost its way a little from the roots of where it began. It became a bit cheesy. That said, over time the so called “progressive sound” of today is really just trance under another name. The influence of trance has crept into so many different genres now that it’s left an indelible mark across electronic music.
Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations you’re excited about, particularly those that involve reimagining classic tracks or exploring new territories in electronic music?
- We have so much great stuff coming up. Perfecto is looking at its classic back catalogue which obviously includes some massive trance hits from over the years. We are freshening them up by working with new up and coming producers and vocalists. I’m especially excited by a couple of talented new vocalist-writers we have, Velvet Cash and Jessica. Apart from bringing new life into some of those much loved tracks there’s always going to be new-cutting edge stuff as well.
