Artist Spotlight: Nicole Moudaber
How did ‘Soul Brothers’ come to be and what new elements did you explore in its production?
‘Soul Brothers’ is a blend of techno, trance, melodic energy, and a groovy touch of soul. Normally, I reserve those kinds of vocals for my house productions but this time, it just felt right on this track; they sat perfectly in the mix. I envisioned the track as something that could bridge styles: it works as a transition from house into techno, and also holds its own in those early morning sets when the energy shifts. Since I play both genres, I naturally imagined the track living in that in-between space.
Your radio show InTheMood has become a global platform for cutting-edge electronic music. How do you approach curating each episode, and how does the show reflect your personal evolution as an artist?
InTheMood has always been more than just a radio show for me: it’s a true emotional outlet. It’s where I get to share all the music I love, from deep house to loopy techno and everything in between. It gives me total creative freedom, which is rare and incredibly fulfilling. It’s also a serious commitment! Week in, week out, and somehow, here we are already in our 11th year. Time has flown. The show is now syndicated worldwide, broadcasting across 97 FM, DAB, and web stations in over 60 countries, reaching around 15 million listeners every week. It’s also available on platforms like SoundCloud, YouTube, and Mixcloud, so it’s accessible wherever you are. What makes it special is that it’s not just studio mixes: it includes live recordings from my sets at clubs and festivals, which brings the energy of those moments straight to the listeners. InTheMood reflects who I am as an artist at any given time, and it evolves as I do.
What should we expect next from you in terms of new music or incoming projects?
I’ve got a major collaboration coming up with Armin van Buuren called ‘House Party’, a project that means a lot to me. I was a full-on trance head back in the day and have always admired Armin’s work, so getting the chance to team up with him feels like a full-circle moment in my career. I’m also deep in album mode right now, which has been an exciting creative journey. The album will explore the range of styles I connect with, and alongside that, I’ve got a wave of singles lined up spanning from house to techno. I’ve always thrived on versatility, and that chameleon energy is just a natural part of how I express myself as an artist.
