Artist Spotlight: Sneijder

What was the inspiration behind “En Route” and how did it come to be?

‘En Route’ was one of the tracks that got me into production. I loved Paul’s sound back in the day and also Aly & Fila’s aggressive acid-laced sounds.  Both acts had a huge influence on me, finding and creating my own sound.  It started as a rework just for my live sets, but it turned out so well, I contacted Paul for some parts, and we decided to make it an official version as a collab.

What has been one track or moment in your past that made you feel you’d ‘found’ your sound as Sneijder, and how does ‘En Route’ reflect where you are now, artistically and personally?

I think my remix for Andain’s ‘What It’s Like’ was the first track where I felt I had nailed my sound with all the elements I loved about trance.  It had the lovely vocals, great melody, acid sounds, and driving bassline’s etc that have kind of became my trademark sound, and it still sounds fresh in my sets to this day.

We saw your amazing body transformation recently! Has this changed the way you create and perform music, and has it also influenced your lifestyle or the way you organise your days?

Absolutely, I started to focus more on my health and fitness a few years ago; it was the best decision I ever made.  I honestly feel 20 years younger and have so much more energy and clarity, which filters into everything I do, both in the studio and in my normal life. The first two hours of my day are dedicated to working out. It’s non-negotiable, and it’s actually made me more productive in the studio.
