Artist Spotlight: Super8 & Tab
The trance scene has evolved significantly over the course of your career. What aspects of the earlier trance era do you still carry with you and use creatively?
For us, the essence of trance has always been in the emotional core of the music. Lush chords, rich harmonies, and the very specific feeling they create are still central to what we do. There is a sense of longing, euphoria, and beauty that defined the earlier trance era for us, and these elements continue to shape our identity today. We are not interested in recreating the past as it was, but more in translating those emotions into a modern context using today’s tools and sounds while staying true to the feeling that made us fall in love with trance in the first place.
What currently excites you most about making music together?
Everything still starts from the feeling. When the excitement is real and the process feels inspiring, the music often finds its audience naturally. We have learnt that when we make music first for ourselves with honesty and curiosity, it usually resonates with the audience. Keeping that childlike sense of excitement alive is very important for us. Modern technology can also be a strong source of inspiration. New plugin, a fresh sound or even a small accident can spark a whole idea. At the same time, challenging ourselves creatively keeps things interesting and exciting.
Looking ahead, what excites you most about what’s still to come for Super8 & Tab?
One of the driving forces for us from the very beginning has been that club music is constantly evolving. This ongoing movement is something we find very exciting. Whether it is a new trance artist bringing a fresh perspective or something from a completely different genre that catches our attention. New ideas always inspire us. Blending those influences into our own sound keeps the project alive and moving forward. As long as the scene keeps evolving there is always something new to explore and that continues to motivate us.
