ASOT 550. Landing in Kyiv (Kiev) on March 10th
On March 10th, Kyiv’s International Exhibition Center will welcome the celebration of A State of Trance 550 with Armin van Buuren as a headliner of the show. What should you know while staying in Kyiv?

- Use your common sense to make your visit to Ukraine enjoyable and safe.
- The population of Kyiv is up to 3 million people.
- The national currency is Hryvnia (UAH) and its one hundredth part, kopiyka. Money can be exchanged: at banks, exchange desks at hotels and licensed exchange booths in the streets.
- Currency exchange rates: approximately 1 USD = 8 UAH; 1 EUR = 10,6 UAH.
- ATM machines are all over the place and almost always within easy walking distance. They typically give out money in Ukrainian Hryvnias only.
- Kyiv Boryspil International Airport is located 15 km southeast of Kyiv.
At the airport
Walk up to the taxi desk INSIDE the terminal (30 m from ‘Arrivals’ doors) and talk to a receptionist. Average fee these days is 250UAH ($31 USD), depending on where exactly you will go to within Kyiv. Normally taxi drivers do not speak good English. Unless you speak the language, show a note with the destination written in Ukrainian or Russian (or the name of your hotel), and ask the fee before you sit in a taxi. Keep in mind taxis may accept dollars and euros. However it is not a bad idea to exchange about $50 at the airport. Don’t change more. Exchange rates are better in the city center. Don’t exchange money with strangers in the street. Illegal currency exchange in Ukraine is a criminal offense.
